4:45 this morning Amelia and I got ready and headed off to a hospital in Scottsdale for a little surgery. Yesterday I took her to see our family Ear Nose & Throat doctor, that's right our family has an ENT on speed dial!! Amelia has been dealing with ear infections since November. Last week after being on antibiotics for 14 days she received three days of Rocephin shots to try and clear up her infections. When we went to the ENT yesterday and she still had infections, her ear drums weren't moving and she was showing hearing loss. Our doctor thought that a quick surgery would be a good thing.
Amelia was doing well and enjoying herself until lots of people starting coming into our prep room. Above she is with her nurse and anesthesiologist on her way back to surgery.
After surgery Amelia had a hard time coming out of the anesthesia. She head bunted a nurse and then tried to bunt another nurse that had faster reflexes. The doctor said that she did a wonderful job. She has very small ear canals (he repeated that a few times) but he was able to clean out both ears. Her left ear was worse than her right. He left a stitch in the left ear so that he could remove excess from her ears during visits to his office.
Amelia fell asleep on our drive home, when we arrived at home and I opened the van door she didn't even move. Funny things though...she was snoring!! Daddy made her a warm bottle and she went right back to sleep in her warm bed.
A quick and easy process!! We are home in time to get Addison and Alex off the bus :)
