Addison's adventure started yesterday when she began her prep for her endoscopy and colonoscopy. Needing to drink 64 oz of liquid with medication in it is hard for an adult let alone our Addison. She began as a champ and by the end I was defeated! After half of her liquid was drank Addison started to say that she was going to be sick. Sure enough she was and that was the start to a long night. By 2:30 am she had gotten sick 4 times and had gone through a few pairs of underwear. The carpets in the hall and bedroom up stairs were steam cleaned. I was very sad when the other kids woke for school this morning and the reality of getting them off to school set in. It must be said that I was very grateful that Adam was still on Dubai time and awake to help.
Addison and I arrived at the hospital at 11:00 pm. We were admitted and the prep began. Addison went into her procedure at 1:00 p.m. and was brought out at 3:00 pm. Addison was released from the hospital at 3:34 and we got home about 5:00.
We learned that Addison has Gastritis. Gastritis occurs when the lining of the stomach becomes inflamed or swollen. Addison also had inflammation in her esophagus as well as her small intestines and colon. Addison also has a deformity in her intestines. Dr. Hecht wants Addison to have a lower GI follow through in a week. The biopsy's will be back in a week or two and of course we will share what we know.
Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes. She has slept most of the afternoon and night away, but she has earned the rest. We are grateful for all the love and support :) Addison and Mommy
